Novaporte is a multi-platform partnership between Sydney Harbour Investment Partners (SHIP) and Membertou First Nation

It is focused on building a large-scale industrial, energy and marine infrastructure platform in Sydney Harbour, Nova Scotia. With Indigenous participation at the core of its development model, Novaporte brings together defence and Arctic logistics, onshore and offshore wind development, offshore wind marshalling and staging services, transportation and logistics, and energy infrastructure within one strategically located deep-water port and industrial hub.

At the centre of the platform is Novaporte’s 2,000+ acre greenfield development site, including more than 500 acres of flat, waterside land dedicated to marine and industrial uses. Located in a sheltered, ice-free harbour with approximately 16.5 metres of natural water depth and no air-draft restrictions, the site is positioned approximately six miles from the Great Circle Route and is capable of supporting up to 1,600 metres of quay infrastructure. The port is being developed to provide large-scale marshalling, staging, assembly, storage and logistics services for offshore wind projects, with the land availability, heavy-industrial footprint and marine access required to accommodate both fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind technologies. The broader Novaporte platform is also advancing opportunities in onshore and offshore wind generation and associated energy infrastructure.

Novaporte Wind Canada LP is the platform’s wind development company, established by Sydney Harbour Investment Partners and Membertou First Nation to advance onshore and offshore wind development and long-term Indigenous participation in Nova Scotia’s renewable energy industry. Together, Novaporte’s wind development, marine infrastructure and industrial capabilities are intended to provide an integrated Atlantic Canadian platform for the development, deployment and servicing of the region’s emerging offshore wind industry.
