Founded in 1828, Bureau Veritas is the world´s second largest group in conformity assessment and certification services. Bureau Veritas adopts a cross-cutting approach of the MRE sector, addressing different technologies such as floating offshore wind turbines, tidal and current turbines, wave energy converters and ocean thermal energy conversion. In recent years, Bureau Veritas has worked with a large number of MRE technology developers through its involvement both in commercial contracts (WinFlo, Principle Power/WindFloat, DCNS/SeaReed, Sabella, OpenHydro, SEENEOH, etc.) and research projects co-funded by the European Commission and other framework programmes, either as project leader or as contributing partner. In addition, Bureau Veritas has developed own regulations dedicated to MRE (NI603 Current and Tidal Turbines and NI572 Floating Offshore Wind Turbines) as well as national and international codes as a member of different MRE expert committees in the areas of interest of the Tidal Sails project, such as IEC TC 114 Marine energy - Wave, tidal and other water current converters or IECRE Marine Energy Operational Management Committee.
