Abegweit First Nation
Abegweit First Nation is a passionate and forward-thinking Mi’kmaq community that have called Epekwitk (Prince Edward Island) home for over 12,000 years.
As Mi’kmaq, our culture and traditions have been passed down from generation to generation successively since time immemorial.
As a Band government, our creation dates to 1972, when we split from Lennox Island First Nation and formed a new Band to better serve the Mi’kmaw population in central and eastern Prince Edward Island.
Today, our community consists of three reserves in Morell, Rocky Point and Scotchfort.
Our vision is to grow a healthy and sustainable community, generating opportunities for individuals and families though economic growth, job creation and entrepreneurship.
